Carnegie Institution of Science: "Peut-être 100 milliards de planètes
semblables à notre terre dans notre galaxie ...". et U.C. of Berkeley dit: "planètes
comme la terre pourraient être très souvent" où "25% des étoiles pouraient
avoir des planètes comme la terre.. (et)...peut-être même plus..."
En 1995 la premiere planète extrasolaire etait decouverte et il n’y a pas si
longtemps, les seules planètes extrasolaires découvertes étaient ce que l’on
nomme des Jupiter chauds. Ce sont de grosses planètes gazeuses tournant sur
des orbites très serrées autour de leurs étoiles respectives avec des
périodes de seulement quelques jours. Aujourd’hui, ce n’est plus le cas, on
a trouvè aussi des planètes moins massives. Ainsi, parmi les planètes
récemment découvertes, certaines ont peut-être une surface solide, leur
conférant une certaine ressemblance avec la Terre.

For the first time an atmosphere has been detected on a planet 1.6 times the mass of Earth and 1.4 times the radius. The planet GJ 1132b orbits a red-dwarf star 39 light-years away and is classified as a super-Earth.
It seems GJ 1132b has an atmosphere that is opaque to infrared but transparent to other wavelengths. It is assumed that the atmosphere may be rich in oxygen and methane. It could be a water planet with a steam atmosphere.

- DS9 is SAO's astronomical data visualization application (runs on many different platforms, displays most standard depths). Online reference manual.

- NASA Goddard's FV program displays both FITS images and tables. Microsoft Windows 95 or NT or Unix platform.
